Hollow Compass Arts
As a folk artist and movement artist, my intent is to be a co-conspirator with time and nature. In this sense, the materials I use in my chimes try to bring attention to the process of…
Weathering
Endurance
Change
The softening beauty of things left out in the elements
Integration and Disintegration
Awash in sea-time, my chimes try to transform the traditional value of money into the eternal sensibilities of wind and music: Waves. Waves of water. Waves of sound, light, spirit. The feminine, the animate, the soft.
Using the wind to make music is to bring attention to the ephemeral, seasons, and passings. A gust of wind brushes against us, now gone.
Though the materials I use in constructing wind chimes are driftwood, feather spines, flattened foreign coins, and weathered metal, I also can create unique wind sculptures from elements brought to me. I have created singular pieces from ram horns, rusted spoons, and other found objects.
